Omar Calhoun, Leon Tolksdorf, Pat Lenehan, Nnamdi Amilo make the grade

More than 1,700 student-athletes have been selected to the 2013-14 American Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

To be eligible, a nominee must have competed in an AAC-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three straight quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.

Four UConn men's basketball players were honored: Omar Calhoun (economics), Leon Tolksdrof (economics), Pat Lenehan (molecular and cell biology) and Nnamdi Amilo (molecular and cell biology).

The most interesting part about this: Lenehan isn't the only molecular and cell biology major on the team. Lenehan and Amilo were both walk-ons last year, though Lenehan has been rewarded a scholarship for his upcoming senior season.

And, of course, Tolksdorf has transferred to American University.
