My Top 25

Here's a mini-feature on Ryan Boatright, who may boast the most significant 63-point performance by a Chicago-based hoopster in history -- at least in UConn fans' eyes.

And here's the AP Top 25 ballot I submitted tonight. I've righted a wrong and included Georgetown after omitting them last week. The Hoyas shoot up to No. 13 with a bullet. Creighton gets some love, too, after beating San Diego State (who I apparently like more than any other voter). The Aztecs remain in my Top 25 thanks to Sunday's win over California.

1. Kentucky
2. Ohio State
3. Syracuse
4. Duke
5. North Carolina
6. UConn
7. Baylor
8. Louisville
9. Xavier
10. Missouri
11. Marquette
12. Pittsburgh
13. Georgetown
14. Florida
15. Creighton
16. Alabama
17. Memphis
18. Kansas
19. Wisconsin
20. San Diego State
21. Mississippi State
22. Michigan State
23. Harvard
24. UNLV
25. Gonzaga

What's with the Duke love? They went to your #2 team and got beat by 20. How can they be ranked ahead of UNC, who got beat by 1 at your #1?

I'm a uconn student and sorry but, uconn is over rated. Drummond, over rated, Oriakhi over rated, this guy is a bust and we've seen it in the past, centers from uconn go on to do nothing. They have some good guards which will keep them solid for the year, but they play too close with bad teams. For our SEC/Big East challenge we played Arkansas...really? Why not Alabama? Why not Kentucky, it's because Calhoun is scared, unlike Geno. Geno goes out and plays all the top teams while Calhoun waits for end of the season miracles to happen. Sorry, I'm one of the biggest sports fans here, but I can't look at how this team is ranked sixth and take Borges seriously without assuming his huge Bias. Time will tell and this team will drop, but hopefully I am wrong.

Yeah, what's with the Duke love? As a previous commenter mentioned, they got stomped by Ohio State. They also barely beat Michigan (after a woeful first half by the Wolverines) and Belmont. Top ten? Sure. Fourth? You've got to be kidding me.

Here's the deal: I had Duke ranked third last week. It lost (badly) at Ohio State. I had Carolina ranked fourth. It lost to Kentucky. It has also lost to UNLV, which got thumped by Wichita State, which ... we could go on and on. But I tend not to have a team that lost in any given week get jumped by another team that lost. No matter the score differential or opponents.

It's still too early in the season to definitively nit-pick whether a team is ranked fourth or 10th. Too much parody these days, anyway.

As for UConn: I see a very complete, dangerous team. No, its big men haven't been great (or, in some cases, even good). But I don't believe that will be a trend all season, and I think Huskies have plenty of answers on each and every given night.

I could be wrong, but it has nothing to do with me being a UConn "fan" -- because I'm not. And never have been.

I love the mens team, and I'm not a Yankee fan, I'm a Mets fan. Thank you. I'm an overall UCONN fan and I just think Oriakhi and Drummond are over rated. Drummond was supposed to be a lottery pick for gosh sake; what has he done? Yeah he's been fine some games, but that dosen't look like a guy who is supposed to be a lottery pick. What about those freshman Kentucky gets routinely? Those one and done's look like lottery picks. At this rate we won't be able to get rid of Drummond after four years. He'll be another fallen by the way side UCONN big man. Good thing we have some solid guards and Olander has actually been surprisingly good. I love the Huskies; I just think having them ranked sixth is high with the poor play of the big men up to date. We should be Harvard though, and then they will be even more over rated, being a fine Harvard team that only but up in the 40's against a mehhh FSU team. We'll see once Big East play rolls around. I'll be here commenting, so stay tuned.

Dude your English is overrated learn how to spell or use spell check. You clearly have no understanding how player rankings are done. If you look at drummond and cant tell me that he will be dominate one day when he puts it all together then your crazy. He has an NBA body now. The transition between high school and college especially a prep school is enormous. You seem like one of those people that need to always be winning or else you consider your team overrated.

Yeah I had a typo or two; sorry, I didn't look over my work. Didn't know this was formal, but you English also sucks. Your comment makes no senese either. "That need to always be winning or else you consider your team overrated"?? What are you saying? I said that 6 is too high for us to be ranked. That's it. I said Drummond isn't playing like he is NBA ready either...That's a fact. Yeah sure his body is "NBA ready", but what does that even mean? He's cocky and can't make a free throw for his life. There have been plenty of UCONN big men that have looked NBA reader, but where are they now, probably playing D-League or in Europe. I love Boatright though, so maybe he can carry the team, but I know it won't be the big men.
