If you're wondering when UConn will travel to Austin, Tx. to face Rick Barnes and the Longhorns, it's Jan. 8, per Texas's 2010-11 schedule on its website.
Do you expect inexperience to be a problem with the Freshman like it seemed to be last year with Alex Oriahki, JCM, among others or do you feel these freshman will be able to start from day one making a big contribution? I guess they will have to since the points arent going to come from dyson and stanley robinson anymore. I'm excited to finally see a Uconn team that can shoot the ball and not just play inside out. I feel like Kemba Walker can really help this team achieve a lot more than whats expected out of them in preseason.
I think it's incumbent that at least two or three freshmen step up and contribute big this season. That's a lot to ask, but between Roscoe Smith, Jeremy Lamb, Shabazz Napier and Tyler Olander (or possibly one of the two German recruits), it's possible. I believe Kemba Walker will have a huge season, and his leadership will be invaluable.
Who do you see making the biggest impact as a freshman this season? It seems coming in we heard a lot about Roscoe Smith who was our highest ranked recruit, but then a lot of buzz came about Shabazz. Jeremy Lamb though has taken the press for how well he has played in the Pro Am recently.
Started as UConn men's basketball beat writer for the New Haven Register in August, 2007. Before that, was traveling Boston Red Sox beat writer from 2004-06 for the Journal Register Co. (which included the Register).
