Greetings from the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, where there's already been one upset tonight -- the weather up here is considerably apparently milder then what's going on back home (though I hear that's not so bad, either). We got a light dusting last night, but otherwise no more than an inch total since we've been here.
Will UConn pull off a second upset this evening? The Orange appear to be about the worst possible matchup for the Huskies. However, guys on the beat a lot longer than I've been point out that UConn has won plenty of games up here they weren't supposed to win. Of course, that was with one Jim Calhoun on the sidelines.
We'll see. Should be fun to watch. Remember, DePaul had a 19-point lead on the Orange earlier this season before losing by two (in Chicago). And Pittsburgh won up here earlier this season (of course, the Panthers also beat UConn in Hartford).
Uconn got jobbed, horrible officiating
ReplyDeleteWell, Ed Hightower was one of the officials.

Can I ask how a team can call a timeout when the don't have possession of the basketball? That has to be one of the worst officials in College Basketball
ReplyDeleteThis game makes me sick. We should have had the ball, tie game, with the shot clock off. Instead, a very familiar looking ref makes a terrible call, grants Syracuse the timeout even thought Syracuse had already shot the ball.
ReplyDeleteAfter the game I researched the referee, whose name is John Cahill, and it just so happens to be that John Cahill is the same referee who made that very questionable call during the Cincinnati game (he called a questionable foul against UCONN, tie game with virtually no time remaining). Is something going on here? This jerk has cost us two games by making awful calls. It just too sketchy how two games this year we lost on awful calls, by the SAME referee? What’s going on with this jerkoff?
Ed Hightower (the black guy) didn't make the blown call at the end, it was cahill, the same get from cincy
