My Top 25

I wanted to vote UConn back into my top 25 this week, I really did. But I just ... couldn't ... quite ... do ... it. Beating the (then)-No. 1 team in the nation by 14 points counts for a lot, no doubt about it. But I couldn't quite get past the 13-6 record. Six losses is a lot at this time of the season. I know the Huskies have played the toughest schedule in the land, but right now, I'm rewarding teams, for the most part, who have simply done more winning. UConn takes care of business this week and I'd say there's a strong chance I'm voting for them again.

Here's what I submitted last night:

1. Kentucky
2. Kansas
3. Syracuse
4. Villanova
5. Texas
6. Michigan State
7. Georgetown
8. Brigham Young
9. Duke
10. West Virginia
11. Kansas State
12. Gonzaga
13. Purdue
14. Tennessee
15. UAB
16. New Mexico
17. Pittsburgh
18. Wisconsin
19. Temple
20. Florida State
21. Georgia Tech
22. Wake Forest
23. Baylor
24. St. Mary’s
25. Oklahoma State

i'd argue that if UConn played a full 40 minutes of what they showed in the second half of the texas game that no one could beat them including Kentucky who they basically gave the game away with free throws

I would absolutely agree with that.

You said they have 6 loses, but they also have the #1 SOS in the country so doesnt that negate their large amount of loses to get some consideration for top 25? I'm not sure St. Mary's schedule would be nearly as hard as Uconn's?

You couldn't pick a wedgie, let alone a top 25. The fact that you even have a vote is a complete joke. Your blog sucks. Get better at what you do. Your blog isn't even in the top 25 of uconn blogs and there's probably only about 5 of them. Please quit.

Since when are journalist all about the censorship??? Did you really delete a post because someone criticized your opinion? I am extremely surprised that as someone who chooses to write publicly as their profession you are unable to take a few harsh words by a passionate fan.

I do not think you blog is awful, I do however believe that you do not actually enjoy covering UCONN. Your writing almost espoused a dislike for the team.

None of the comments posted on this article in any way merit deleting, especially from someone who makes his lively hood projecting his own opinion.

ted you sound like you are the person who wrote the comment before who dave deleted, its very simple, if you dont like his blog, than dont read it, no one is forcing you at gun point to read it. In fact im suprised you dont flame Jeff Jacobs who probably has the most angst against Uconn than any other journalist combined

I did not delete any post. That was done by someone else, not me (even though it says "author"). I have never had a problem with any sort of criticism directed my way.

And it's livelihood, not lively hood.

hey anonymous,

If I were Ethan, I would have posted my name as Ethan and not as TedEthansFriend. Pretty straight forward. My point was simply that journalist - Dave Borges included - would never want their work censored based on their point of view. If you have a blog, you should be open to criticism as long as nothing that is said is racist or hurtful. Pretty much basic first amendment stuff - you know freedom of the press, speech, ......

I read this blog because I am die hard Uconn fan. I also read the Mike Anthonys blog, the rivals message board and just about any other type of Uconn info I can get my hands on. Make sense? I also love it how you pull the "you dont have to read it" card. Why dont you try a more substantive argument next time, maybe one that requires more than .5 seconds to come up with. I made a comment on the fact that Daves writing makes it seem like he doesnt enjoy covering uconn, Ive made the same comment before. Its an observation.

Anyways its hard to call someone out for not being honest about who they are when you post from the name anonymous. Actually its pretty hypocritical.

Touche, it is livelihood. Ill make sure to edit my posts before submitting them from now on.

As for the comment being deleted - you might want to get control of you blog back - seems a bit suspect.

Hey guy defending dave, you sound like dave. Just quit already there's nobody who reads this blog that actually thinks you're good at what you do. Uconn fans have to read it bc there's such a shortage of info on uconn out there.
If I wanted a providence fan writing about my team I'd move to rhode island and become a friars fan. Unless a uconn fan writes that blog.

Why so many haters? I do agree that you seem like you don't like UCONN too much. However, you have a good blog and I enjoy reading it every day! Thanks.
